Welcome to the St. Vincent DePaul webpage! We are an organization that helps to assist the needy.
The Saint Vincent DePaul Society was founded by Blessed Frederic Ozanam in Paris, France in 1833 during the terrible years after the French Revolution. People literally lived in the sewers on the streets because there wasn`t anyplace else for them to go. Praise God that is not the case today but across our great country, there are people that live on the edge of those sewers. Especially here in Fannin County where there is no public assistance of any kind. If you have a child, you may get help with food stamps but there is a waiting line for subsidized housing and there are people in this community who live in their cars at times.
Due to your generosity, STVDP plays a large part in helping people with their rent or utility bill when they lose their job or out of work due to illness. No help is ever giving without a home visit to the family seeking aid. A home visit goes a very long way in determining what is the best help that can be given in a wide variety of circumstances and follow up is done when needed. Our service must be motivated by love and given personally with sympathy, humility, compassion and respect. As members of STVDP we seek to mutually encourage each other to love God and through God to love our neighbor.
The STDVP group at St. Anthony Catholic Church, is known as St. Anthony Catholic Church conference, and is part of the STVDP Council of Atlanta. We are in full compliance with all the auditing and reporting regulations that 501(c)3 non-profit corporations must follow to keep their non-profit status in tact on a quarterly basis to the Atlanta Council which is part of the national and international STVDP Society.
